The Xreport is really the most useful feature of the register because it reports sales by item, not just category or department. we can tell how many of each kind of hamburger we sold at the end of the day, and cumulatively at the end of the month or multiple months. (this is done with the program regx)

when an X report is taken (you can anytime), a flat file is written to the /slips subdirectory containing the extracted summary data by item. this is intended for the back-end inventory system (not finished or released yet).
